Thank you so much to the people who took the time to come to the meeting last night.

We had a lively discussion about the Village redo which will probably start in early June. Pedestrian lights will be placed in the crosswalk at Starbucks, and Third and Fourth will be bulbed out and will be landscaped with benches, potted plants and hanging baskets etc. The crosswalks will thus be a shorter walk across the street at those two locations (Third and Fourth). Street lights will be revamped.

Also discussed were the two trees that will be placed in the center of Big Basin, one at the Plumed Horse location and one near the front of the Butter Paddle. The trees are considered a traffic calming method. They will be in raised areas. Stamped concrete in the pattern of pavers will be placed in crosswalks and the same design will be placed down the center of the street between the trees. Plans were shown for all this. I will bring those plans to the morning meeting on February 9th and again to the next evening at Rose Market on the evening of February 23. The plans will be put on the City's web site www.saratoga.ca.us in March when they are finalized. Bids for the project will be advertised in April and May. The City is currently working on Joe's Trail at Azule Crossing and that will be the next construction work done. Then will come the Big Basin project.

There were questions last night about having kiosks, one at Blaney ( where Arch is) and one at Turkey Track (next to Harmonie Day Spa)and the desire was expressed to tie in Wildwood Park with the Village with a stairway..

It was decided by the group in attendance that we should go ahead with "Savor Saratoga:Wine & Wisteria" at Hakone on Sunday, April 11. Hakone is graciously allowing us again to use their facilities for this truly lovely event. It is a great deal of work for the volunteers who already do so much but everyone decided it was well worth it. Also that means we will be coming around looking for silent auction items, food and wine for the event from Village merchants. Last year the SVDC raised $8000 at our Hakone event. The money is all spent on other future Village events and items to "dress up" the Village. How the money will be spent from this year's fundraiser will be decided at the next SVDC meetings. Any ideas? Let us know.

The Village sign design was shown last night and the sign saying "Welcome to Historic Saratoga Village est. 1848" should be up in Blaney Plaza in the next month or so. The sign will be purchased by funds received at last year's Hakone fundraiser.

The schedule for our other events is on our web site www.saratogavillage.info. Any questions please email me.

Thank you all for taking the time to read this and be informed about our beautiful Village! Don't forget to write your Saratoga Love Note for Valentine's Day! Jill
