Come to the Saratoga Senior Center where we offer a professional shredding service for the community. We have teamed up with Shred-it, the world’s leading licensed and bonded document shredding and recycling company, utilizing their cutting edge proprietary technology. This service is open to the public. Many local organizations and small at home businesses are beginning to use it, as well as individuals.

It is a great service, especially for anyone concerned about identity theft or privacy. It is very convenient for anyone tired of the slow and finicky nature of home shredders. Just drop by the Senior Center when doing errands or going to the Post Office and bring in your bag of shredibles, with or without being weighed. We have a scale for your convenience.

Here are the specifics:
At the Senior Center close to City Hall
19655 Allendale Ave (across from the main Saratoga Post Office)
Saratoga, CA 95070

Hours open:
Monday-Friday 10AM-3 PM

Call for special arrangements for other times or larger jobs. 408-868-1257

Professional, secured lock boxes for storage until the licensed Professional Service picks up to shred onsite in the parking lot (standard protection procedures).

Staples and occasional paper clips are no problem.

Cost:
$0.25 ¢ per pound
$1.00 minimum
Banker’s Box-$8.00
* Your Participation helps fund Saratoga Area Older Adult Services.

If March comes in like a lamb and goes out like a lion...

...we can help with great wine for the lamb and fun things to do before the lion!

Come for the First Saturday Tour and delight in gorgeous spring scenery with lacy blossoms of lingering fruit trees along the roadsides. Discover the delicious new release of 2004 George's Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon. Cap off the month with a Wine Ride, the Santa Clara Valley Passport Weekend, or Santa Cruz Mountains Pinot Paradise event. Then we'll see whether the lion appears...

New Release - 2004 George's Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon
March 13, Pouring in the tasting room and available online!

Luscious and drinkable now, this George's Vineyard Cab would pair well with nicely done lamb or rich meats. It also goes well with chocolate, and we all need reasons for that, don't we?

George's Vineyard is a velvety wine that pours a deep purple-red in the glass. The nose evokes thoughts of rich, ripe cherries, raspberries, and as the wine opens up, notes of richly tanned leather. Bright fruit crosses the palate, notably cherries, fleshy red plums, and lovely cassis laced with a light touch of cedar around the edges. Balanced with a sense of earthiness. The finish is mellow and very enjoyable. Come see for yourself and write your own notes!

Purchase now

First Saturday with the Winemaker, March 6, 11 a.m.

"The History of Moffett Field," will be presented on Monday, March 15 at 7:15 at the Immanuel Lutheran Church (14103 Saratoga Avenue in Saratoga). The lecture is free and sponsored by the Saratoga Historical Foundation. John Mascali will trace the 75-year history of Moffett Field beginning in 1930 to the present.
Mascali, a director of Moffett Field's Historical Society, will recount stories of the construction of the historic Hanger One, the dirigible USS Macon, the squadrons and aircraft that have flown out of Moffett Field and some of the history of NASA Ames.
Hangar One, built during the 1930's, is one of the largest unsupported structures in the country. The floor covers 8 acres and can accommodate 10 football fields. The hangar's interior is so large that fog sometimes forms near the ceiling.
Hangar One was used to house the USS Macon, a 785 foot dirigible. The Macon could accommodate 100 officers and men; sleeping berths; a mess room; a galley; and observation platform in the nose and tail.
The Navy used the dirigible for reconnaissance. The ship was useful because of its silent motion and speed (up to 80 mph) for long distance.
Join us and find out more about this fascinating historic landmark and time in history. Those participating in the potluck dinner should arrive at 6:30 PM and bring food to share, your own dishes and eating utensils. Beverages of water, tea or coffee will be provided. The lecture will begin about 7:15 PM
