[SVDC 472] St. Paddy's Day "strikes" twice

In answer to a query, I found out that all the ruckus in the Village during
the late afternoon on Wednesday was not a bank robbery.  What happened was
that a man who is apparently part of a known ring of heisters tried to cash
a bad check at the Bank of America.  The Sheriff was notified when his ill
intentions were realized, but he fled on foot before they arrived.  He made
his way up to Oak Street enroute to a getaway car waiting at Starbucks,
where he was apprehended, handcuffed and taken away.

A lot of excitement for a St. Patrick's Day!

Speaking of St. Patrick's Day, thanks to Marilyn Marchetti for organizing
the successful St. Paddy's Day event last Saturday in the Village.  Attached
are 4 photos from the event that she sent me, along with this info:

Smiley - Winner of the guessing game - Aidan Costello of Saratoga:
There were 84 green bubble gum coins in the container, and Aidan's guess was
the closest at 86.

Balloonist - Balloonist Sharon Palermo puts eyes on Adrian's dinosaur
balloon as Jordan watches.  Both boys are from Saratoga.

Dancers - Julie of Los Gatos, Cate of Saratoga, Ethan of Los Gatos and Casey
of Saratoga.

Jill, Bruce,Kids - Vice Mayor Jill Hunter and Big Piper Bruce Cotter pose
for a picture with these kids: Joshua from Saratoga, Nathan and Katie from
San Ramon, Sophie from Saratoga, Adam and Nora from Cupertino.

The winner of the Adult Drawing was Jasmine Dai of Sunnyvale, who won a
floral arrangement from Floral Fantasia.

"We were blessed by the luck of the Irish on Saturday and had a perfectly
beautiful day.  The highlight for the children was finding the brand new
lucky, shiny pennies that the leprechauns hid.  There was lots of activities
and green decorations, drinks and foods for everyone to enjoy.  This is a
free event to promote a sense of community for residents and the Village."
