Good afternoon, SVDC list server subscribers;
I follow the list each day as posts come in and am glad that this
vehicle exists so that we can be kept informed about what's happening in
the Village. I usually don't originate messages except when I feel a
need to clarify something relating to a City policy or to provide facts
to elevate the level of the discussion.
I just want to clarify the facts regarding the changes to the proposed
ordinance implementing the Housing Element mentioned in the listserv
posting below.
The existing ordinance:
* Limits height in the CH-1 Zone to 35 feet. The ordinance also
limits structures facing Big Basin Way to 2 stories, and those facing
Saratoga Creek to 3 stories.
* Limits height in the CH-2 Zone to 26 feet, and 2 stories.
Because of confusion over the interpretation of how to interpret the
number of stories in the CH-1 Zoning area, the Planning Commission
decided to eliminate the wording regarding the number of stories
permitted/prohibited and just retain the existing height limitations.
(in both zones) So, the wording under the proposed ordinance is as
follows:
* Limits the height in the CH-1 Zone to 35 feet.
* Limits the height in the CH-2 Zone to 26 feet.
There is no wording in the proposed ordinance ..." that allows three
stories along Big Basin at the front and four (or five) stories in the
rear."
The ordinance is scheduled for public hearing at the April 7th Council
meeting. Please feel free to come to the meeting to learn more about
the proposal and to provide the City Council with your opinion.
Regards,
Dave Anderson,
City Manager

Hi all,
Tomorrow evening we will have our monthly informal dinner gathering at
the Trattoria (Florentine's) on Big Basin ( near Hong's) 6pm. You are
responsible for your own dinner. To be discussed: happenings in the
Village including the addition to the housing element just approved by
the Planning Commission that allows three stories along Big Basin at the
front and four (or five) stories in the rear. This change to the
Village Guidelines would apply to all of Big Basin, not just the Buy 'n
Save project . The Mercury News and the Saratoga News covered this last
week. It should be discussed by those affected.
Please don't forget getting your tickets for Wine & Wisteria, less than
two weeks away! Jill
