For those of you who have asked what happens now that Council member Susie Nagpal has passed away, the decision will be made tonight at the Council meeting.  The two solutions offered are that we can appoint a person to fill out the remainder of her two year, five month term or we can put a shortened term in the election in November.  Two Council members are currently up for reelection, Chuck Page and myself; Kathleen King, the third current Council member is termed out in November.  That means there would be three seats open for the four year terms and one open for a two year term. The decision to sign up for the City Council election in August must be made by August 6th or a few days later if no incumbent signs up. 

If you have an opinion about all of this please come tonight at about 8 pm to the meeting.  The item is one of the last on the meeting agenda.

For those of you who have not had an opportunity to sign Susie's Memory book,  it in the lobby of the administrative office at City Hall today (there are large signs identifying where it is) and will then be moved to the lobby of the Civic Theater where the City Council meeting is held.  I know the family would be so grateful for all of you who took the time to express thoughts about Susie's passing even if you did not know her. Thanks.  Jill
