<html><head><style type="text/css"><!-- DIV {margin:0px;} --></style></head><body><div style="font-family:tahoma, 'new york', times, serif;font-size:14pt;color:#000000;"><div>Hi everyone,</div><div> Here is a little more information about the HWY 9 /Summit/Big Basin project. </div><div><span> It will start probably this summer at a cost to the state of 10 million dollars. The purpose is safety; the three 20 mph hairpin turns as you go up to the Summit on Hwy 9 will be straightened out. Concrete retaining walls will be installed. This will mean that many tons of dirt and vegetation will be transported down through the Village. Traffic will be slowed for the three locations. One is near Hakone, one near Sanborn, Saratoga Springs and one near the top. This is your opportunity to take a look at the plans and comment on them if you are someone who could feel the impact. If you cannot get
through on the Caltrans district 4 web site keep trying. The comment period is still another few weeks. The web site again is <a target="_blank" href="http://www.dot.ca.gov/dis4/envdocs.htm">www.dot.ca.gov/dis4/envdocs.htm</a>. I have been able on occasion to get through to the environmental document with many pictures so keep trying. </span></div><div><span> For those of you who are asking about the Big Basin redo, bids for the project will be accepted sometime in February. The project plans will be on the City web site. Construction will maybe begin in April. The three affected areas are the Starbucks crosswalk, Third St. and Fourth st. Bulbouts will be constructed giving the street a more pleasant look and also will slow down traffic. More information will be coming . Keep on eye on the City web site <a target="_blank"

You will be given an opportunity to comment before that. </div><div><br></div><div><br></div><div><br></div><div> Thanks. Jill</div><div style="position:fixed"></div>
